What is Open Factory

OpenFactory” is the most important opening of industrial and manufacturing culture: promoted by ItalyPost and L’Economia del Corriere della Sera, it is an initiative, now in its ninth edition, that aims to open up and make known to the general public the businesses that generate value for the country. Open Factory is a project designed to make people understand the cultural, social and economic importance of doing business: opening the doors of factories becomes a fundamental gesture to make people perceive the importance they have for the country’s future and for the many young people to whom they can help discover the beauty of Italian manufacturing.

Open Factory thus serves to tell people about their companies, strengthen their ties with the community and their employees, attract young talent, and make them feel that factories are a value to everyone.

The tenth edition will take place on Saturday, November 23 and Sunday, November 24, 2024 in presence within the companies and live digitally on this website.

It’s easy for businesses to participate: how it works

All participating businesses will open their doors on Saturday, November 23 and/or Sunday, November 24, 2024. The public will need to register on the event website, and the list of people attending will be provided to the company in good time so that the event can be managed safely. Visiting shifts and a maximum number of people per shift will be defined, depending on the physical and organizational availability of the company itself. The company will then only have to take charge of managing the visits and any welcome drinks for visitors. The company can promote the event on its own channels, for example, to get employees’ family members, suppliers, or customers to attend.

Why participate in Open Factory

The “Open Factory” project and individual participating companies will be the protagonists of a multi-level storytelling and storytelling strategy:

  • Show the community and institutions that factories are safe places
  • Explain to the community that factories are an element of widespread and shared wealth creation

What to do during Open Factory

Each lead company chooses the most appropriate activities to tell its story, culture and values. Below are some examples of activities carried out in-person within the company:

  • Guided tours inside the production facilities (or in the visitable parts of the company)
  • organizing talks or interviews
  • workshops or activities for younger children

Interested companies can then also (or exclusively) participate in Open Factory’s live digital broadcast: from 2 to 7 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 24, 2024, each company will have a dedicated 10-minute segment during which they can take the audience on a tour of their spaces, with demonstration videos, or make in-depth mini-italks on key issues that represent the company .

The Academy 2024 project

From the afternoon of Friday, November 22 to the morning of Sunday, November 24, interested companies will be able to host one or more groups of participants in the Academy project. The Academy is an intensive program that will select the best students from universities all over Italy and accompany them to discover the Open Factory. For each group, consisting of 40-45 people, interested companies will be able to arrange visits or in-depth meetings (depending on the participants’ course of study), or cognitive interviews and scouting activities.
